If you enjoy crafting, it’s a lot of fun to make handmade Christmas cards. With Christmas coming in a month, this tutorial is perfect if you are cramped for time. SCISSORS

GLITTER

GLUE PEN

CARDSTOCK

GLUE RUNNER

BAKER’S TWINE

WHITE GEL PEN

LETTER STENCIL

FOAM TAPE (OPTIONAL)

Crafting is all about being creative and reflecting your personality. If you like more subdued colors, choose tones that are pleasing to you. Maybe you like neon colors… go for it! Make your card with what pleases you and those who will receive your masterpiece! I have embellished my card with baker’s twine and glitter – but you may want to embellish yours differently.

Please note – if you are mailing your card(s), I would recommend NOT adding gemstones to your card as they can get crushed in shipping. If you send your card in a padded envelope, there will be an extra postage charge. To eliminate this problem, it’s best to steer clear of weighty or heavily embellished cards that can get damaged. The card featured here should ship with no problems. πŸ™‚

I hope this tutorial will help inspire you! I would like to wish all of my readers a very blessed Christmas and a joyous New Year. Please feel free to share this post.

Tips/Ideas:

*Remember when layering paper to avoid using a glittery base. Paper glued on top of glittery paper doesn’t stick too well because of the glitter. I’m sure there are ways around this – but sometimes, it’s best to avoid a glittery base. However, if the glittery paper will be your top layer, have fun and bling it up!!

*On this card, if you don’t want your present to have any text on it, simply decorate it with stripes, polka dots, Christmas shapes, etc.

*Check at your local dollar store for bargains on Christmas ribbon, stickers, embellishments, etc.

*Merry Christmas – Jesus is the reason for the season!

Upcycling: Ribbon Spool Ornament

Don’t throw away those empty ribbon spools! You can make bracelets from them as well as many other things including Christmas ornaments! With Christmas right around the corner, this is an inexpensive and easy craft idea.

Supplies Needed:

*Empty ribbon spool

*Cardstock (design is your choice)

*Ribbon (ironically enough!)

*Hot Glue Gun (with glue sticks, of course!)

*Embellishments of your choice

*Pencil

*Scissors

Instructions:

*Step One – Trace around the empty ribbon spool with your pencil onto the back of your cardstock. Repeat this step so you will have two circles. Use your scissors to cut out these two circles.

*Step Two – Hot glue your cardstock to both sides of the ribbon spool and embellish as you choose.

*Step Three – Hot glue ribbon to the empty part of the ribbon spool and create a loop.

Use empty ribbon spool

Adhere cardstock

Tips/Ideas:

~Embellish project with gemstones, glitter, or anything else you like!

~Find Christmas cardstock with an image on it and simply embellish it!

~Peel the empty ribbon spool label (top layer only) off before gluing so the surface won’t be as slick.
