I’m a Fan of… Crayola Twistables Slick Stix!!

From time to time on this blog, I feature crafters, craft companies, and craft products that I am a fan of. Today, I am putting the spotlight on Crayola Twistables Slick Stix!

css

I first discovered this particular product a year or two ago. Of course, I was familiar with the Crayola name since I’d had their crayons and other products as a child. However, I was very impressed that Crayola also makes products for adult art use that stands up to the competition, but for a fraction of the cost!

Crayola Twistables Slick Stix give off brilliant, pigmented color and are very creamy and gel-like. Oh… and they blend like a dream! You have a few minutes of “play time” to blend them before they set. They could be blended with a sponge, but I find that the heat of my finger blends them perfectly and gives me the best control. Plus, when you’re finished, the non-toxic formulation will wash off the skin with soap and water. I do not use them to color coloring pages; rather, I use them for other things such as shading, highlighting, and more! They are great to use for mixed media art journals, card-making, with stencils, or to color large surfaces. In fact, I used them to color the leaves on the project shown below, and they gave the leaves a very realistic, waxy look! ↓↓↓

I also used them to color plain white printer paper when I make my paper roses. If I don’t have a certain color of paper, no problem! I just reach for my Crayola Twistables Slick Stix and get the perfect finish. When they dry, they leave a slightly shiny, waxy finish (which can be seen in person) so they are perfect for making paper roses!!

In card-making, they are also great to use! Last Fall, I made a pumpkin-shaped card. Instead of having a flat, orange piece of paper – I wanted to add some dimension and contour to my pumpkin. The Crayola Twistables Slick Stix were the perfect solution!!

Of course, these nifty crayons can be used for far more than I’ve mentioned – but I simply wanted to give an idea of their capabilities. They twist up so you never have to worry about sharpening them. You can get a set of 12 for less than $8.00USD in most stores which carry Crayola products. Give them a try and let me know what you think in the comments!

Best of 2016 | Multiplicity Crafts Awards!!

Welcome to the first annual Multiplicity Crafts Awards blog!! In this blog, I will be featuring my favorite paper craft tools and products of the year! These are products I actually own, use, and love! So, let’s jump right in…

Multiplicity Crafts 2016 Awards

2016

Best Ink Pad: Tsukineko – Memento Tuxedo Black Ink Pad

memento

When speaking of inks, there are various types of inks – from pigment inks to dye inks and everything in between! However, this award will go to the ink pad which, I feel, stands tall among all types of ink. And yes, I have to go with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink Pad. It has made a huge difference in my stamping quality. It gives crisp, pigmented color and has not dried out even after an entire year’s heavy use!

Best Cardstock: My Mind’s Eye Sugar Plum Collection

mme

I purchased this cardstock pad to make my Christmas cards with – and I was so impressed. The unique prints and colors were amazing. I found the paper quality to be excellent and loved that some of the papers were embellished with glitter. Each page was also double-sided with different prints on either side. A winner for sure!

Best Coloring Product: Copic Ciao Dual Tip Markers

copic

I love art and love to color – Copic Markers make coloring even more enjoyable! Each marker is highly saturated with nicely pigmented ink which makes coloring large surfaces a breeze! I find the brush tip end of the marker nice to practice calligraphy with, also! Plus, I love how Copics (in the same color family) can be blended to give a nice, dimensional effect. Whether adding shadows or highlights, Copics are so versatile!

Best Stamp Set: Recollections Brush Script Alphabet

recollections

I am practicing and would love to be able to write in beautiful calligraphy… until then, I found Recollections Brush Script stamps to be the perfect option!! There are other script letter stamps on the market which are nice, but they are triple the price! I found this set from Recollections to be perfect for lettering envelopes. You can even customize your cards with them or use in your Bible journaling. I have got a lot of use out of these stamps and would recommend them if you are looking for an alphabet set for a fraction of the cost!

Best Adhesive: Scor-Tape Double Sided Adhesive

st

This is a tough category because each adhesive has it’s own purpose. However, I have found that my Scor-Tape does an excellent job holding everything in place. It’s also nice for if I need a thin strip of adhesive and nothing too bulky. It is super sticky, does what it’s supposed to do, and a roll lasts a long time!

Most Innovative Product/Tool: Fiskars ProCision Rotary Bypass Trimmer

fiskars

Wow – just wow!! This tool cuts even the thinnest strip perfectly straight with no frayed edges! It expands to 12″ for larger sheets of paper and also cuts various materials other than paper. The rotary blade never needs to be sharpened either – major plus for me since I can dull blades quickly with all of my paper cutting! The trimmer also has a grid on it for accurate measurements and precision. It folds for storage or if you do not need a large cutting surface. Amazing tool that I am so impressed with!

Most Useful Product/Tool: EK Success Cutter Bee Scissors

cb

These scissors have so totally impressed me!! They cut accurately and never fray the paper. The pointed tip is perfect for precision and fussy cutting. I had seen many crafters with these scissors and wondered what all of the fuss was about – well, now I know! They are amazing! They stay sharp even after much use and come with a blade guard for storage. Their thin, sharp blades are perfect and never bulky and in the way like some other brands of scissors. The best scissors I have ever tried. Not sure if they can ever be beat!!

I’m a Fan of… Amy R.!!

Nowadays, there are many craft bloggers and YouTubers – but one that stands out in my mind is Amy Rysavy with Prairie Paper and Ink. She has well over 40,000 subscribers on her YouTube channel, and for good reason! Her paper crafting videos are so inspiring and fun to watch. She presents each video with professionalism, yet, a down-to-earth style.

I would like to congratulate Amy R. and present her with this virtual Multiplicity Crafts Fan Award below!!

amyr

amyr-welcome-image-2I first learned of Amy through YouTube and have been subscribed to her channel for a while now. She has been on YouTube for over 8 years now! She does paper craft tutorial videos as well craft hauls, unboxing videos, and reviews. My personal favorite is when she watercolors on her cards – I could watch her paint for hours!! On her blog, she describes herself as a “Stamper, Blogger, YouTuber (40,000+ subscribers!), complete novice cake decorator (need tons of practice!), habitual coffee drinker…”  She is also a work-at-home single Mom with 3 girls and 1 boy. She has been on some very prestigious design teams and does such excellent work.

As those of you who read my blog well know – I will only promote products, bloggers, and companies that I truly enjoy. I hope you will check out Amy’s YouTube channel and blog to see what amazing creations she has made! I will post an example of a card she’s made below to whet your appetite!! 🙂

I’m a Fan of… Scrapbook.com!!

Before I begin, let me say that I was not asked to feature this company – I am just a very happy customer and wanted to share my wonderful experience with this company.

logoteal

I placed my very first order with Scrapbook.com a couple of months ago. The reason I chose to shop with this company in the first place was because they were the only company that had a popular cardstock collection still in stock. I had tried numerous other companies (nine, to be exact) and this particular collection was so popular that it had sold out elsewhere. I was pleased to find Scrapbook.com fully stocked and ready to receive my order.

I was also very pleased with their website and ease of navigation; not to mention the great bargains. There is a Dollar Store section where everything is under $1. I appreciated the fact that there were plenty of options to choose from in their vast variety of products.

During checkout, there is the option to calculate your shipping cost ahead of time so there are no surprises. And wow – their shipping costs are very reasonable! Speaking of shipping, I also found that my order arrived VERY quickly and was packaged nicely so that none of the items I ordered were damaged in any way.

After my positive experience with Scrapbook.com, I contacted them on Instagram to compliment them. They were very kind to take the time to reply to my comment and to thank me for my business. Again, I am not affiliated with this company nor am I paid to say this – I am just a very pleased customer and I would highly recommend this company!

I’m a Fan of… Vicky!!

From time to time, I will post a crafter, store, product, or blogger/vlogger that I am a fan of! I will not name anyone or anything in my “I’m a Fan of…” entries that I am not truly a fan of! Think of it like an Honor Roll for crafters and products! 🙂 I feel like the crafting community should be a happy, loving, care-free place where we can selflessly celebrate others and their unique talents, as well as brag on the products that we truly love!

For this entry, I would like to congratulate Vicky Papaioannou and present her with the virtual Multiplicity Crafts Fan Award as shown below!

Vicky Papaioannou

I first learned of Vicky through her YouTube channel about four years ago. Her card designs and art journals are so beautiful and inspiring! She is from Greece but travels around the world teaching craft workshops. She is a wife, mother, crafter, artist, teacher, blogger, vlogger, and so much more! I would highly recommend checking out her videos on YouTube as well as her blog.

She has a wonderful way of teaching various crafting techniques on her videos. It is also very enjoyable to watch her create her mixed media art journal pages. I love all of her videos but my favorites are when she makes 10 cards from 1 Simon Says Stamp crafting kit! She always takes her projects to the next level and finishes them all with excellence! Check out her work below, then see what other amazing blog posts and videos she has! I think you will become a fan also! Enjoy!! 🙂
